Feed My Starving Children

“Feeding God’s Starving Children Hungry in Body and Spirit”
Within the last few months, I’ve been keen on learning what I can do to help make the world a better place. With this mindset, it wasn’t long until I sought out volunteer opportunities. The problem, however, was my busy and consistently varied schedule. Always the individual to work multiple jobs, it was nearly impossible to find a volunteer program that could fit my schedule.

However, not to feel disheartened, I continued my search only to come across the non-profit Christian organization, Feed My Starving Children. It usually takes an hour and half or two hours to complete one session. That’s within the time frame of one movie or a few Netflix episodes! You reserve a spot for yourself or for a group. It doesn’t have to be necessarily in advance. I have reserved a spot, at times, thirty minutes before I volunteered. You schedule for each time you go, so if I can go three times a week at various different times, it’s possible. If the next week is different, it’s no sweat off my back.

I’ve grown to really love this organization. The staff is welcoming and informative about what you are doing, who you are helping, and what is in the food. At the end of each session the staff tells you how much food you had packed and how many children you’ve fed within the year. At the end they ask you to donate money towards their cause. They don’t pressure you, or make you feel obligated. It’s a simple request of asking for a donation of anything you can provide. Each bag of food that you pack feeds a total of six, and that equals 22 cents a meal. Think about that for a minute, 22 cents. One bag is $1.32. Skip a bag of chips and a soda for yourself and you can contribute to feeding six malnourished children!

Feed My Starving Children has a various locations, Coon Rapids, Mn, Chanhassen, Mn, Eagan, Mn, Aurora, IL, Libertyville, IL, Schaumburg, IL, and Tempe, AZ. Don’t see your city in the list? Don’t fret, they also have mobile packing events across the country!
